Sparks Reserve West Synthetic Soccer Field upgrade

Gabriel Ng, Labor Candidate for Menzies

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government would put $3.9 million towards an upgrade of the Sparks Reserve West soccer field.

Over 2000 soccer players use Sparks Reserve West each year, but its availability is always subject to turf conditions. This election commitment would go towards upgrading the fields to a synthetic surface that could be used seven days a week, helping the site keep up with current and future demand. It would also allow for greater use of the site by schools and the wider community.

The Australian Government would be partnering with Box Hill United and the City of Whitehorse to deliver this important infrastructure. Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

The Labor Candidate for Menzies, Gabriel Ng commented that this much-needed upgrade would be a game-changer for our local soccer clubs and football lovers. ‘The popularity of soccer has boomed in Menzies since Australia hosted the FIFA Women’s World Cup. This funding will help ensure our local players can keep kicking goals.’
